Problem Statement
Lack of Expertise to Assess and Train in the Area of Assistive Technology for the Visually Impaired
Currently there is a lack of expertise to assess and train Persons with visual impairment in the area of Assistive Technology. This resulted in inefficiency and possibility of cost wastage when the equipment purchased is not put to good use when users are not trained to use it or when the equipment is deemed unsuitable.
Solution
Provide comprehensive Assistive Technology Assessment and Training for the Visually Impaired
The comprehensive Assessment will be created by trained professionals, who will be designing the Individualised Programme for AT instruction and the delivery of AT training.
The individual needs of the visually impaired will be identified in the assessment stage of the programme and addressed through the Individualised Training Programme.
Outcomes
Persons with disabilities are able to make informed decisions and planning via better support and access to information, programmes and product navigation. The persons with disabilities are able to improve their life skills as much as their potential allows.
