This device allows for mobility whilst letting the user have free use of their arms and lets them reach up high to grab items on shelves .
It features a chassis with a battery pack, compressor, electronics board and other  components. The chassis is also not too large, which allows for the user to keep it easily. Another reason why it is not too big is to not make  the device is too obvious and does not make the user feel any less than 'normal ', as it will look natural while in use , whereas crutches , although not intended , can make any user feel ashamed of their disability due to its size and difficulty to store whilst not in use . 
It is controlled via a handheld controller that is operated by the user and adjusts the height of the seat and the movement of the device , and can pivot in place 360 degrees in a hands-free fashion. This control system can also allow integration of other functionality, such as a secondary control pad/remote for control and chair raising/lowering. This device aims to support the user at the hips in contrast to crutches which support the arms , restricting or disabling the use of arms safely . This in turn allows full freedom of the users arms and hands in everyday life allowing them to tackle daily tasks like reaching up to a shelf high up or carrying groceries.

For students, a bluetooth mouse will be modified to be used as a communication tool. The modification is to remove all 3x tact switches (left, mid & right button), extend its connections externally with wires and sockets. Removable press-to-make button switches (not included here) can be plugged to these sockets to act as tact switches. On activation, BT module send signals to computer. On the computer side, there is a hub with matching USB dongle for each BT mouse/s to receive these signal.
For teachers, there is a classroom app with multiple functions. Firstly, the teacher can set a multiple-choice question quiz and the students can answer with their modified mouse. The teacher can then view the students' answers and come up with an aggregate score to see who needs more assistance. Secondly, the app can also show google files/websites/pdf for the teacher to present to the students for them to learn something. Essentially, the app acts as a web browser.

ASID push button is a push button switch that turns on the toy it is connected to for 3 seconds. 
The number of pushes required to accomplish the activation is randomised, taking anywhere from 2 to 10 pushes to activate for 3 seconds. 
The above happens only once and after the switch deactivates, a reset is required by the teacher and this encourages communication between the child with autism spectrum disorder and the teacher . The random aspect of the different number of button pushes adds in more fun and incentive for the child to keep playing and pushing the button and as a result more resets are required and more interaction between teacher and child

- Proximity Sensor Hardware was electrically paired with an Arduino Controller to sense beneficiary hand motion which triggers to remote
- Arduino Infra-Red (IR) Library which was used to read / De-code the accompanied IR remote that came with the AM/FM radio
- Arduino IR Transmitter/ Receiver was the hardware used to read and transmit IR signals to control the Radio
- Hacking an off-the-shelf Radio Frequency (RF) Toy car remote controller and Receiver and electrically pairing it with the Pins of a normal Arduino microcontroller
Refer to attached Overview Schematic. There are 2 separate equipment in the set-up. A Transmitter set-up and a Receiver Set-up. They communicate with each other Via Radio Frequency (RF)
Transmitter Side:
The motion of the beneficiary over the proximity sensor, sends a digital “HIGH” signal to Arduino. We programed the Arduino to turn on an LED for visual reference and sends a Digital “HIGH” to 1 of 3 DI pins of the hacked RF Toy Car RF Controller. This send a RF signal to the Toy Car RF Receiver.
Receiver Side: 
We linked 3 DO pins of the Toy Car Receiver Chip to 3 DI pins of the Arduino controller. The Arduino Controller on the Receiver side constantly scans the 3 DI pins. When reading a digital “HIGH” it will send an NEC IR signal to change the channel of the Radio via the IR transmitter.

Play can become much more accessible for children with disabilities by attaching a larger push activation switch, through the addition of a parallel branch to the original one. Typically, the switch connects to the toy via a 3.5mm mono jack. This allows the switches and toys to be interchangeable – each switch can be disconnected and used with other toys, and vice versa, to be able to mix and match toys and switches to suit each child's abilities. The modification procedure will thus be described in two parts: from the toy to the jack, and from the jack to the switch.

Hack a Toy

The device provides an opportunity for children with motor disabilities to raise a flag via a remote button. A simple programing mode allows the operators to adjust the height of the pole and the length of the song for the device to automatically adjust the speeds and the end points. The device consists of an outer casing and also electrical components which are programmed to power a stepper motor. It features a motor driven pulley to pull the flag rope. The pulley rotation is monitored for speed control and to detect when the rope is stuck.

Software Solution

A first-person 3D simulator of an electric wheelchair software has been developed. It contains game play scenarios to enable the student to acquire some skills in the use of the electric wheelchair and develop situational awareness when operating it. 
Some scenarios include:
- Road Use (Zebra Crossing, Traffic Lights, Uncontrolled Junction)
- Bus Ride (Waiting for the bus, Flagging the bus, Boarding the bus, Move into wheelchair bay)
- Supermarket (Entrance, Inside the Supermarket, Block by shoppers, Items beyond reach, Checkout)
The simulator can be integrated to a suitable input device (e.g. a wireless joystick) which can be attached to the player’s seat (in the case, an actual wheel chair). Users can navigate through the scenarios and master the skills to operate a wheelchair and apply them in real life scenarios.

The extra weight from the case allows the student to exert more force, helping her to draw darker lines and increase its visibility. At the same time, the casing also widens the pen, improving the student's grip on it.

A stand-alone nail trimmer has been developed whereby the client is able to perform nail cutting by himself/herself.
This ergonomically designed device allows user's hands to be stabilized comfortably. The design idea generation came from the concept of a baby nail trimmer as well as a disc polishing machine. The final solution is a stand-alone nail trimmer whereby there is a disc which is connected to a motor, there will be sandpaper/ grinding paper attached to the disc and the rotational motion will trim away the finger nail when it touches. To enhance the safety, an enclosure has been built around the finger slot/hole  so the client will be able to insert their fingers into the enclosure. The distance from the enclosure to the finger slots are fixed. This will allow the client to perform nail cutting manually without any assistance and to cut all the fingernails simultaneously.
